A Meditation For The Moment

Meditation has been such a difficult subject to understand for many. It can be simply defined as a practice of giving the mind a "break", but it is much deeper than that: adrenal health.

The adrenal glands produce hormones that help the body control blood sugar, burn protein and fat, react to stressors like a major illness or injury, and regulate blood pressure. One of the most important adrenal hormones is cortisol: the stress hormone; that gentle touch that awakens us, or the running thoughts often associated with sleeplessness/insomnia.

The mind's response to external stimuli prompts the higher or lower production of, and the maintenance of, cortisol, as the chemical works with certain parts of your brain to control your mood, motivation, anxieties and fear.

Meditation, for as long as humans have practiced organized culture, have hailed meditation as the practice to calm the spirit and mind well before stress occurs, saving the body from debilitating symptoms of sustained high cortisol levels.

Many meditation practices require no thought or use of the senses, in a sense, the consciousness behavior of no listening, no looking, no speaking, no moving and no thinking. However the subject of meditation is not limited to those behaviors.

Here is a guided meditation for those who would like to practice one: https://youtu.be/yLHqWeQkUME

And here is a basic practice for beginners:

Simply read one line as you inhale inhale slowly.

Do not rush the exhale.

Pause.

Understand.

Exhale.

Inhale deeply with the reading of each line.

Pause briefly.

Exhale.

At the end, close your eyes and breath calmly.

Breathe without effort.

Find the sound of your heartbeat.

MEDITATION:

Every moment is the seed.

Some times are about watering.

Some are about needing light.

Always about the way the soil is fed.

Youth is the absorption stage.

Obstinacy is not a factor of growth.

Grasp the moment for what it needs.

Live fully in every moment.

Intend productively for every need.

Feel honestly, not reactively.

Experience limitless potential as the seed.

...............................................

Close your eyes and breath calmly. Breathe without effort. Find the sound of your heartbeat.
